About – Specialist Teaching Services

We are a group of accredited Special Education teachers who are experienced in working with students with learning difficulties and other special needs. Concerned at the number of children waiting for Learning Support in our primary schools, we decided that our experience would be best used by helping individual students and their families get the intensive support that they required.

Importantly, we look at all our students as unique individuals and do not promote a one-size-fits-all approach. All our tutors are trained in the Multi Sensory Language (Orton-Gillingham) approach as recommended by Dyslexia Australia as evidence-based best practice in teaching students with Specific Reading Difficulties, such as Dyslexia. We are passionate about making a difference to your child’s educational experience and since no two children are alike, we tailor Individual Education Plans for each child based on a diagnostic assessment.

We also provide written programs for your child’s teacher so they can see what we are working on with your child, and can liaise with other professionals – speech therapists, occupational therapists for example, to ensure an effective, co-ordinated team approach to your child’s educational needs.

We can provide lessons at your home or ours, on-line or even at school with your Principal’s permission. We also provide School Readiness Assessments for pre-schoolers and are happy to host information nights for Pre-Schools or Playgroups on school readiness.

Special Circumstances

We love teaching your children face-to-face but that’s not always possible. If health concerns, medical conditions or locations require lessons being conducted remotely, we will facilitate such needs via ZOOM.
