We will keep you updated on your child’s progress and challenges throughout the term. Formal academic assessments are available at an additional fee. We are happy to speak with your child’s teacher briefly by phone at no cost if needed. However, please understand that personal attendance at teacher meetings or extended discussions by phone may incur an additional fee, though we are generally happy to oblige if we can.
Initial Assessment: Depending on current assessments already available from other therapists, an initial assessment of your child with a written report may take approx. 1 -1.5 hours and the results will be discussed with parents and student (if appropriate) in a separate meeting. The charge for this service (inclusive of parent de-brief and a written report) is $250. At this meeting, we can discuss ongoing fees and recommended attendance patterns.
There are discounts available for families with multiple children requiring tutoring, and for families of children with complex medical needs. Please mention this to us at your initial meeting.
High School Study Sessions
High School Study sessions are a small group (max of 6 students) of Year 7 and Year 8 students who meet for 1.5 hours with a teacher. These are not formal instruction sessions, but are designed to help students with their study skills in a real-time environment. Students bring their own device, assignments, assessment tasks and question from class and we work collaboratively to improve their planning, research, writing and study techniques. Many students (and parents) find it relieves stress on homework and exam study by having a supportive peer group of students with similar needs and be guided by an experienced teacher. who can incorporate “mini-lessons” on troublesome topics if the need arises. These groups are particularly useful for student with challenges in the areas of Executive Function, Dyslexia and Dysgraphia. These sessions are run for 8 weeks in every term and are cheaper than an instructional session. Please contact us for availability.
School Readiness for Pre-Schoolers
Not sure if your child is ready for school? If you would like an independent assessment of your child’s readiness for school or their need for early intervention, please contact Sue-Ellen to discuss an assessment.
