School Readiness Assessments and Program
Current research shows that we can effectively identify children at risk of dyslexia and other language difficulties before they even start school. There are a range of simple screening tests that can be administered in 20 minutes on children from the age of four years which will flag areas of weaknesses in the key skills necessary for learning to read and write. Early intervention makes a huge difference to these children by ensuring that they experience success in the classroom from day one. Our School Readiness Assessments include an assessment of these key literacy areas, as well as fine motor skills, social skills and their ability to concentrate long enough to settle in the classroom and learn effectively.
Assessment
A written assessment of your child’s readiness for formal school, including screening for children at risk of dyslexia or Specific Reading Difficulty. The assessment would include observing your child in their normal pre-school environment. If assessment by other professionals is indicated – for example, speech therapists, occupational therapists, we can assist you to find a reputable practitioner in your area.
School Readiness Assessments – $80 per child including written report and parent debrief
Group Programs (School Readiness)
If recommended, we offer affordable, engaging small group (max 4 children) programs based on our assessment of your child’s areas of weakness. Programs will typically include consolidating their literacy and numeracy skills, fine motor skills, social skills and readiness for school routines.
School Readiness Groups – Tuition: $20 per child for 30-40 minute session
Minimum period: one term ( 10 weeks)
Where possible, we will group together children enrolled in the same school and with similar areas of need to maximise learning and social opportunities for your child.
Our teachers are always happy to host information nights for pre-schools, playgroups or community groups at no charge, so please feel free to contact us if your group is interested.
